Court frees Catholic priest of child rape charge

Daily Post Nigeria has today shared a bitter end to an unimaginable atrocity by a man who is believed to be ordained to worship God. Rev. Fr. Anthony Ochigbo of Church of Assumption Asokoro Abuja, who was charged of rape of a minor; 10 year old child and parishioner, has been freed by Judge- Alhaji Umar Kagarko on the grounds that the priest was charge under Section 282 of the Penal Code; rather than the Child Rights Act.

This does not seem acceptable as members of the public are canvassing and asking for justice.

Although the prosecuting lawyer; James Idachaba had wrongfully filed the case in a court with a mistaking knowledge of the courts jurisdiction, Fr. Anthony is NOT discharged of the charges against him. An appeal through the right court would give the 10 years old and her family the justice they deserve.
