THE MARK ANGEL, DENILSON IGWE AND EMMANUELLA SAGA

So we have heard from Vanguard about this popular comedian and the ongoing disclosures.

Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker Denilson Igwe, the co-founder of Mark Angel Comedy has disclosed details about his fallout with his former partner, Mark Angel.

He accused his colleague Mark Angel of making substantial earnings while only giving small amounts to him and the child actor and one of the top stars in the crew, Emmanuella.

He claimed that when they started creating the content of the Mark Angel Comedy, he was filming the content, while Mark Angel handled the social media presence.

He also claimed that Mark monetized their social media account without informing him and kept most of the earnings for himself, giving only small monthly payments to Emmanuella. He added that he didn’t get a dime from the proceeds of the monetization until 2016 when Mark Angel gave him 50,000 Naira. Mark Angel bought a car for himself and claimed that it was a gift. He also alleged that Emmanuella was paid N20,000 monthly.

According to a report, Igwe said 'No one knew the revenue it was generating. 2016 was the first time he gave me N50,000 and told me that the comedy wasn’t generating revenue. And we were making $160,000 monthly off Mark Angel Comedy’s Facebook revenue then.'

He said, “I was the one that started Mark Angel Comedy. Mark was the elder brother of the house, working as a security guard in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, while I was a cameraman for a man named Ifeanyi. I took his camera and, in our free time, we would make those comedies. Mark created a Facebook page, and I didn’t even know when it got monetized. Suddenly, in 2014, he bought a car and said it was a gift.”

He continued, “I hadn’t received any money at that time, and he would pay Emmanuella N20K monthly. In 2016, he gave me N50K, saying the comedy wasn’t making money, even though we were earning $160,000. If you talk about him, it’s either you die or have an accident.”

Mark Angel's comedy gained popularity around 2014, primarily featuring two men and a minor as the main cast members. Many fans subscribed to the entertaining skits on social media during that time.
