Five Dead, One Arrested Over Food Poisoning

Five people have reportedly died under questionable circumstances at Afashio Community, Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria.

The incident allegedly occurred last week when five individuals, including four boys and a girl, were found dead in a room.

The bodies were discovered by family members who, after noticing they had not come out of the room, decided to check on them and found them lifeless.

Two of the victims were brothers, while the remaining three, including the female, were friends.

A community source suggested that food poisoning is suspected, as there were no signs of assault or visible injuries on the victims.

The Edo State Police Command on Thursday confirmed the death of the five youngsters and the arrest of one over suspected food poisoning at Afashio Community, Uzairue,  Etsako West Local Government Area.

When contacted, Edo State Command Spokesperson Moses Yamu confirmed the incident.

A sixteen years old girl, Aisha Suleiman was alleged to have caused the death of Emmanuel Elogie and four others with food poison. 

The Commissioner of Police, CP Umoru Peter Ozigi, has directed that no stone should be left unturned to ensure that the cause of death of these young people is established
